Region of Waterloo resumes mailing out social assistance cheques

Waterloo Region – Given the recent announcements by Canada Post, the Region of Waterloo resumed mailing social assistance and other cheques Tuesday, July 12.

On June 28 the Region stopped using the postal system to deliver social assistance cheques and made them available for pick up at Regional offices. This was done to ensure recipients were not impacted by a potential mail disruption.

Cheques to vendors will also be sent through the postal system.

Vendors and clients with inquiries about a cheque they are expecting to receive can call 519-575-4400 for assistance.
