Region of Waterloo recognizes National Volunteer Week

Waterloo Region – Volunteers are the roots of strong communities. That’s why the Region of Waterloo is recognizing National Volunteer Week held April 10 – 16, 2016.

With nearly 2,500 registered volunteers, the Region has many reasons to celebrate. “We are thankful to our volunteers for enriching our citizen services and helping to improve quality of life in the Region,” says Ken Seiling, Regional Chair. In return, volunteers can develop valuable skills and connect with other community members.

Volunteers contribute to services in a variety of ways.

The Region and citizens benefits from having volunteer support in areas such as:

  • seniors’ and children’s services
  • Adopt-a-Road (road clean-up)
  • special events like the Children’s Groundwater Festival
  • museums and libraries
  • public health programs

“Volunteering your time, energy and abilities helps make the community a better place to live,” said Deb Bergey, Manager, Client Experience and Service Improvement, Region of Waterloo.

The Region is always looking for new volunteers. Visit the Region’s website for a wide range of volunteer opportunities regionofwaterloo.ca/volunteering.
