Region of Waterloo prepares for potential mail disruption

Waterloo Region – The Region of Waterloo is taking steps to minimize the impact to clients and vendors that could result from a potential postal disruption.

July’s social assistance cheques were mailed Monday, June 27 so that clients would receive their monthly benefits by Thursday June 30. Due to the potential postal disruption, all client cheques issued since Tuesday June 28 will be available for pick up until further notice.

Clients can pick up their cheques during normal office hours at the Regional Community Services offices located at 99 Regina Street South in Waterloo and 150 Main Street in Cambridge. Clients are encouraged to call their caseworker if they have any questions or concerns about their cheques.

Cheques issued after June 28 by the Region to vendors who receive payment by mail will be held at the Regional offices and available for pick up until any potential postal disruption is over.

Vendors can call 519-575-4400 at if they have any inquiries about a cheque they are expecting to receive in the mail.

Any potential mail disruption will not affect clients or vendors who receive payments from the Region by direct deposit.
