Region of Waterloo Library to Increase Hours and Services
Waterloo Region – In Fall 2012, the Region of Waterloo Library (RWL) ran an extensive Citizen Survey to learn the opinions of our township residents about library services. More than 1,500 people were surveyed by phone and online, and they rated the service at our library an unprecedented 9 out of 10 for overall satisfaction. Respondents also provided many thoughtful ideas and suggestions to make our services even better. We have listened to those ideas and used them to create the Region of Waterloo Library Service Plan 2013-2015.
Our goal with the RWL Service Plan is to give library members more of the services and resources they want. In direct response to survey results, we will offer more consistent and convenient branch hours at all locations, starting the fall of 2013. The hours at four of our 10 branches will increase, and morning hours will be offered at all branches. The new schedule will soon be posted at local branches.
RWL will also continue to build upon our many popular programs and services. From 2013 to 2015, the focus will be on expanding adult and teen programming as well as public computer/technology training. Additionally, the library will continue to build broad-based collections while increasing the total number of e-books and e-audiobooks available.
RWL is also making changes in communications and e-services to better serve patrons. The library catalogue was given a user-friendly update that provides more functionality and search control. The library website will soon be reorganized with new features added, like DVD Central, that will make our resources even easier to access and browse.
These are highlights of the many ways that RWL is responding to feedback from patrons. In the coming days, a complete copy of the Citizen Survey report and RWL Service Plan 2013-2015 will be posted on the library’s website at www.rwlibrary.ca
The Region of Waterloo Library serves residents in the Townships of North Dumfries, Wellesley, Wilmot, and Woolwich, and circulated over 400,000 items last year. The Region of Waterloo Library staff team recently won a RAVE Service Excellence award from the Region of Waterloo.
