Region of Waterloo Arts Fund gets donation from Good Foundation to Support Waterloo Region Arts Community

Waterloo Region - Region of Waterloo Arts Fund Board members and family members of the London-based Good Foundation are pleased to announce an additional $50,000 donation to the Arts Fund for disbursement on behalf of the Good Foundation in its fall 2020 granting cycle.

Together with 2019’s donation, this makes $90,000 of support to our arts organizations gratefully received from the Good Foundation.

Established by the late Milton and Verna Good in 1974, the Good Foundation distributes funds to charitable organizations in communities of which family members are a part. Since its establishment, the Good Foundation has granted more than $6,500,000 to arts and culture groups. The Region of Waterloo Arts Fund (RWAF) was created by the Waterloo Regional Council in 2002 and, since 2003, has granted more than $4 million to arts projects in Waterloo Region.

Foundation President Jim Good has reflected on the goodwill established between the two funding groups: “Good Foundation Inc. has much in common with the Arts Fund. Since its beginnings in Waterloo Region in 1974, the Foundation has made many local grants relating to arts and culture. [The] Arts Fund already has in place an excellent adjudication process. We believe our aims will be well served by adding some funds to what your Arts Fund currently distributes.”

This is the second year of a two-year initiative to be assessed for its success and impact following the RWAF’s fall 2020 granting cycle. “We very much appreciate the cooperation of the Region of Waterloo in what so far seems to be a win-win situation,” said Jim Good, Foundation President.

The Arts Fund’s volunteer board expresses its heartfelt gratitude for this continued trust and support. We are honoured to have been given the opportunity and responsibility to carry on the philanthropic legacy created by the Good family in the name of Milton and Verna Good.

Fall 2020 is the inauguration of the RWAF’s single-stage, online application process. The deadline for applications is Friday, October 16, 2020. All applications must have been submitted to the online portal by no later than 11:59 p.m.
