Region of Waterloo Arts Fund announces the 15/150 Grant Program
Waterloo Region - The board of directors of the Region of Waterloo Arts Fund announces the 15/150 Grant to mark two special anniversaries in 2017: the Arts Fund’s 15th anniversary of ‘making art happen’ and Canada’s 150th anniversary.
The 15/150 Grant is an opportunity to reflect and celebrate these occasions, in particular the sesquicentennial.
This one-time granting opportunity will operate under specific conditions, and aims to identify and fund a small number of projects to mark these anniversaries; it is open to all performing, visual, media and literary arts disciplines in the Region of Waterloo.
The 15/150 Grant submissions will be evaluated concurrently with the regular Fall 2016 application review, and allows an exception to the rule of one application per round. Submissions must adhere to the current criteria, guidelines and deadlines, and will be evaluated using the customary two stage, peer reviewed process. This one-time grant will be funded from the Arts Fund’s existing budget, and the 15/150 projects must take place between Jan.1 and Dec. 31, 2017. A maximum of 10 applications will be invited from the initial round of evaluation to the second decision-making round.
A full list of conditions and guidelines, and access to the special 15/150 Grant application forms, are available on the Arts Fund’s website at www.artsfund.ca .
Created in 2002, the Region of Waterloo Arts Fund is a not-for-profit corporation that provides arms-length funding for the performing, visual, media and literary arts in the Region of Waterloo. Its mandate is to stimulate arts activity by funding projects throughout the Region and that will enhance the ability of an artist or arts organization to “make art happen.”
The Arts Fund is one of the very few funds in Canada that awards grants directly to artist-led projects. The Arts Fund also supports new projects initiated by local arts organizations in collaboration with artists based in the Region. The funds are made available through Regional Council’s allocation of 40 cents per capita.
By investing in the community via the Arts Fund, the supported projects are able to attract additional funds through earned revenue, grants from provincial, federal or private sources, sponsorships, private and in-kind donations.
The Region of Waterloo Arts Fund welcomes applications in all arts disciplines from individual artists and arts organizations based in the Region of Waterloo (comprising the cities of Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo and the townships of North Dumfries, Wellesley, Wilmot and Woolwich).
Applicants are first asked to submit a Stage 1 application outlining their project. Upon review of those applications, a short list of applicants is invited to submit a more detailed proposal, including budgets, in a Stage 2 application. There are two opportunities to apply for funding each year, in the spring and fall.
The next deadline for the regular Fall round and 15 / 150 Grant applications to the Arts Fund is 4:00 pm on Friday, September 9, 2016. Full details are available on the website: www.artsfund.ca.
