Region of Waterloo and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 1883 ratify four year contract
Waterloo Region – An agreement between the Region of Waterloo and CUPE Local 1883, representing the Region of Waterloo’s inside workers, has been ratified by the parties.
Highlights of the CUPE agreement include:
- 48-month collective agreement term from July 1, 2016 – June 30, 2020
- Annual increases of:
o 1.50 per cent on July 1, 2016
o 1.50 per cent on July 1, 2017
o 1.50 per cent on July 1, 2018
o 1.75 per cent on July 1, 2019
The Region’s negotiated contract settlement with CUPE 1883 will achieve the mutual goals of providing fair and secure wages and working conditions for employees, while maintaining and improving the quality of services to the residents of Waterloo Region.
Current membership of CUPE Local 1883 includes 784 full-time and 71 temporary full-time workers, employed in various departments of the Region. CUPE Local 1883 workers are involved in Social Services, Public Health, Planning, Housing and Community Services, Transportation and Environmental Services, Corporate Services and Human Resources and Citizen Service, in multiple locations throughout the Region.
