Region of Waterloo and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE)
Waterloo Region – An agreement between the Region of Waterloo and CUPE Local 1883, representing the Region of Waterloo’s inside workers has received ratification.
Highlights of the CUPE agreement include:
- 36 month collective agreement from July 1, 2013 – June 30, 2016
- Over the three year life of the agreement, the total compensation cost is 3.34 per cent
- Annual increases of:
- 1.5 per cent on July 1, 2013
- 1.25 per cent on July 1, 2014
- 1.25 per cent on July 1, 2015
- Adjustments to benefits will result in efficiencies over the life of the agreement.
Current membership of CUPE Local 1883 includes 814 full-time and 68 temporary full-time workers, employed in various departments of the Region. CUPE local 1883 workers are involved in Social Services, Public Health, Planning, Housing and Community Services, Transportation and Environmental Services and the Finance department in multiple locations throughout the Region.
