Waterloo Region – An agreement between the Region of Waterloo and CUPE Local 5191 EMS, has received ratification. The total compensation cost for this three year agreement is 4.86 per cent.

The negotiated contract settlement between the Region of Waterloo and CUPE Local 5191 will achieve the mutual goals of providing equitable and fair wages and working conditions, while maintaining and improving the quality and level of services.

Highlights of the agreement include:

  • 36 month agreement from April 1, 2013 to March 31, 2016

Wage increases of: 

  • 1.75 per cent - April 1, 2013
  • 1.75 per cent - April 1, 2014
  • 1.75 per cent - April 1, 2015
  • Minor adjustments to benefits and premiums

 Membership of CUPE Local 5191 includes 110 full-time and 86 part-time paramedics and fleet support employees.
