Region of Waterloo acknowledges everyone involved in the vaccine rollout

Waterloo Region – The Region of Waterloo is taking the opportunity to thank the many people involved in the vaccine rollout, including the people who are working on Canada Day at three vaccination clinics that are open July 1 in the Region.

“Whether you work behind the scenes, you volunteer at a clinic, or you administer doses, we appreciate your contribution to the vaccine rollout,” said Shirley Hilton, Deputy Chief of Waterloo Region Police Service and head of the Waterloo Region Vaccine Distribution Task Force. “So many people have helped us get to where we are today – we have administered over 550,000 doses and more than 78 per cent of adult residents have received a first dose.”

Today, staff and volunteers at The Boardwalk, Health Sciences Campus, and Cambridge Pinebush vaccination clinics will be working together to administer approximately 5,000 doses of vaccine to people who have booked appointments. Walk-ins for first doses only are also welcome to attend these clinics today.

“We appreciate and thank all health care workers and administrative staff who have helped us administer first and second doses since the beginning of the vaccine rollout,” said Dr. Hsiu-Li Wang, Medical Officer of Health for the Region of Waterloo. “Thank you also to family doctors and pharmacies for continuing to help us accelerate first and second doses and encouraging anyone who hasn’t received their first dose to get it as soon as possible.”
