Region launches my-waste app: easy-to-find waste information when and where you want it.

Waterloo Region – Residents who want easy to find household waste information can now download the Region of Waterloo’s free my-waste app that puts residential garbage, recycling, special waste collection details and more at their fingertips.

“This is a new way for us to connect with residents about our resource recovery and waste diversion programs. We’ll be able to update the information on the app as necessary during the year, so it will always be current. Residents will never forget a collection day and can easily find out if something can go in the green bin or blue box,” said Cari Rastas Howard, Project Manager, Waste Management Programs.

The free app provides homeowners with a full range of information that is also available on the Region’s website. Now residents don’t have to go hunting for that lost schedule.  By downloading my-waste app homeowners can check details for regular and special collections like yard waste, Christmas tree collection and more. Once residents have downloaded the app, they can set it up to give them regular reminders for any of the collection programs. For example, they can set a reminder for the day that yard waste is collected or set up alerts just for Christmas tree collection.

A special feature of my-waste app allows residents to access the popular Waste Whiz search tool that is currently available only on their computer.  Waste Whiz, which allows residents to find answers to their questions about what goes where, currently answers over 150,000 inquires a month.

Residents can download the free my-waste app from the App Store or Google Play.  Blackberry users can access my-waste functions via Pingstreet, available through Blackberry World.

The Region will continue to distribute printed materials and have information on the website or residents can call Customer Service at 519-575-4400.
