Region launches consultation for library service expansion in Woolwich
Waterloo Region – Today the Township of Woolwich and Region of Waterloo are launching a public engagement process that will inform how the Region of Waterloo Library will expand service to the growing community of Breslau.
The location for a proposed library branch is the Breslau Community Centre. Over the coming weeks, staff will work to gather public input to determine the convenience and value that a branch at this location would offer to the community, and to inform decisions on expanding the library’s services and resources more comprehensively to residents in Breslau.
The consultation will begin with an online survey via Engage WR, the Region of Waterloo’s user-friendly and accessible platform starting today, June 5, to gather community feedback to support decision-making regarding the location of a new branch. For this analysis of community preference and desired amenities, residents in Breslau and surrounding communities will be asked a number of questions, including if they are in support of transforming the existing community centre’s lower level into a new local library branch. The survey will be open through July 7, 2023.
Members of the community are also invited to take a tour of the proposed space, ask questions and submit feedback during the following drop-in hours:
- Tuesday June 20th, 2023, 4-8pm
- Thursday June 22nd, 2023, 9am-3pm
The dates to tour the proposed space at the Breslau Community Centre will be a drop-in format, with one-to-one or small group discussion opportunities to ask questions about the proposed location.
Results of the consultation program and recommendations for next steps will be made available in reports to both Woolwich Township’s Council and the Region’s Library Committee in August.
