Region asking residents to comment on proposed improvements to Bleams Road
Waterloo Region, February 14, 2022—The Region of Waterloo is proposing improvements along Bleams Road from Fischer-Hallman Road to Trussler Road in Kitchener. The project is tentatively scheduled for construction in 2023 and 2024.
At this time, the Region is asking residents to complete a survey by March 7 at engagewr.ca/bleams-rd. Residents can share their comments on preliminary designs that offer three options for intersections along Bleams Road:
- Roundabouts
- Traffic signals
- Hybrid model (roundabouts and traffic signals)
These preliminary designs were developed through findings of an Environmental Assessment Study (EA) that is looking at current and projected traffic patterns, and the need for improvements to the roadway to accommodate the existing and proposed intensification of the lands along Bleams Road.
The preliminary designs take into consideration all users including pedestrians, cyclists and motorists, and ensures residents have a safe and easy way to cross Bleams Road at several locations.
The results of the EA study, other technical studies and public feedback, will help staff determine the right intersection improvements, as well as any active transportation solutions such as multi-use trails, pedestrian or cycle paths, along this stretch of Bleams Road before starting the reconstruction project.
