POSTPONED: Upcoming Film Project - March 18, 19 and 20, 2020
PLEASE NOTE THIS PROJECT HAS BEEN POSTPONED FOR THE NEAR FUTURE
Some of you may have noticed that Main Street and Queens Square are still festively decorated for Christmas - our office is grateful to the Queens Square Christmas Tree Committee and our Downtown Cambridge BIA for leaving these decorations in place a little bit longer than usual to assist with an upcoming film project!
“Letters” is a tongue in cheek take on Christmas movies with a dark twist, however the sentiment that love conquers all plays a central theme in this project. This is a smaller scale film shoot, and we anticipate the impact to be fairly minimal on the surrounding road infrastructure. There will be some horror elements involved that may be disturbing to some, specifically involving the Queens Square tree and Dalton Court. Shooting of these scenes will be taking place after 8:00pm, and the City is requiring that all visually disturbing props are covered when filming is not occurring to minimize the impact on area residents/businesses.
Hero locations:
- Main Street (Lower block) - filming March 18 and 19, 2020 in the afternoon/evening
- Queens Square (Christmas Tree) - filming March 19 and 20, 2020 in the evenings
Anticipated Impacts:
- Set dressing will begin Wednesday, March 17 and involve faux snow, Christmas decorations, and various horror elements in the areas noted above
- Intermittent stoppages on Main Street between Ainslie and Water Streets (March 18-19) and within Queens Square (March 20)
- All set dressing will be wrapped out on March 21
- Late evening filming is proposed on all days. No noise or light spill is anticipated to disturb area residents
Parking:
- Private lots will be utilized for base camp
- On street parking will be reserved between Water and Ainslie Street
Special Effects:
- Use of a “glitter cannon” has been proposed
- Minor supervised explosion
- Faux Snow
- Potentially disturbing “Christmas” decorations on the tree in Queens Square
We are anticipating this to be a fun project with minimal impacts, and again are grateful to our community partners for assisting us with this project. If there are any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our office at invest@cambridge.ca or (519) 740-4685, ext 4724.
