Ottawa Street at Homer Watson Boulevard and Alpine Road reconstruction road closures begin on approximately May 25.

Waterloo Region – Ottawa Street construction will enter stage 2. This stage will impact traffic in the area of the project.

Beginning on approximately May 25 and for approximately 14 weeks, Homer Watson Boulevard and Alpine Road will both be closed on the south side of Ottawa Street.

To facilitate traffic and pedestrian access in the area, a temporary four-lane bypass road with a protected pedestrian route will open on the north side of Ottawa Street at the Alpine and Homer Watson traffic signals.  A right turn off Ottawa Street southward onto Alpine Road will be open to allow access into the businesses on Alpine Road.  Other locations South of Ottawa Street will be accessed via a detour route using Strasburg Road, Block Line Road and Courtland Avenue.

Grand River Transit buses will continue to operate in both directions on Ottawa Street for the duration of these works. Temporary bus stops will be provided as required during construction.

Remaining Stages of the project expected in September and October will have sufficient work completed to open both roundabouts with reduced lanes and reopen the connections to Alpine Road south and Homer Watson Boulevard south.

At the conclusion of the project, brief closures of Ottawa Street at nights or on weekends will be required to complete the paving of the final layer of asphalt pavement in October 2017.
