Opening of largest vaccination clinic in Waterloo Region
Waterloo Region – The largest vaccination clinic location in Waterloo Region to date opens today at SmartCentres, 66 Pinebush Road in Cambridge. The Cambridge Pinebush vaccination clinic is being operated and staffed by Grand River Hospital with the engagement and support of other local hospitals.
“We are pleased to support the Region’s COVID-19 vaccination strategy locally,” said Grand River Hospital president and CEO, Ron Gagnon. “We have had the benefit of learning from our on-site vaccination clinic which has been operating for the past few months and are looking forward to applying this knowledge and lessons learned to increase access to the vaccine across our communities.”
The Cambridge Pinebush vaccination clinic is opening with 10 immunization stations today and will expand to 20 by the end of the week. As more vaccine becomes available, this location has the capacity to grow to 40 immunization stations.
“We are grateful for the tremendous partnership with Grand River Hospital which has made the operation and staffing of a mass immunization clinic in our region a possibility,” said Shirley Hilton, Deputy Chief for Waterloo Region Police Service and head of the Waterloo Region Vaccine Distribution Task Force. “We are tremendously appreciative that Grand River Hospital staff will bring their expertise in running the COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Grand River Hospital since December to the Cambridge Pinebush site.”
The vaccination clinic at Grand River Hospital closed on Friday, March 19.
The Cambridge Pinebush vaccination clinic space is being provided at no cost by SmartCentres. The vaccination clinic is being held in the old RONA location.
