Ontario Government releases 2022 Budget

Waterloo Region – Today the provincial government released their 2022 budget, Ontario’s Plan to Build. The document commits to initiatives to address economic growth, employment and training, infrastructure and healthcare. This includes local projects like the next phase of Highway 7 construction to Guelph and planning for a new joint acute care facility between Grand River Hospital and St. Mary’s General Hospital.

“Affordable housing, talent and infrastructure remain essential as our region grows. This includes expanded and modernized broadband, healthcare, transportation and education infrastructure,” says Regional Chair Karen Redman. “We believe that continued attention is required to address the housing and healthcare challenges faced across our community.”

Communities thrive when everyone is included and supported. The Region of Waterloo remains committed to working with senior levels of government and community partners to improve outcomes for all residents.
