One TTY Number for the Region of Waterloo

The Region of Waterloo has replaced its 16 TTYs (teletypewriters) with TextNet technology and can now be contacted through one TTY number, which is 519-575-4608. This initiative is a part of the Region’s ongoing commitment to improving access to services for people with disabilities.

People who are Deaf, deafened, hard of hearing or those with speech disabilities can use a TTY to type and read conversations that would otherwise be done by speaking and hearing on a telephone. The Region of Waterloo has acquired TextNet technology to communicate with TTY users. Now TTY users can call a single TTY number for the Region of Waterloo for access to all Region programs and services.

The Region’s 16 TTY numbers will continue to be in service until the end of 2011. TTY users who call these numbers will be asked to hang up and dial 519-575-4608.
