Regional Development Charges Review
The Regional Municipality of Waterloo is reviewing its development charge by-law under the terms of the Development Charges Act, 1997. A development charge by-law expires five years after it is enacted by a municipality and the municipality is required to complete a background study, hold public meetings and enact a new by-law.
The purpose of the Regional Development Charge is to recover certain growth-related capital costs from residential and non-residential development.
Public input to this review process is encouraged. You are invited to attend the public meeting which is scheduled to hear representations regarding this matter. This meeting will be held at:

Public Meeting
Regional Council will hold the public meeting to hear representations regarding development charges as required under the Development Charges Act on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. in the Regional Council Chambers. To register as a delegation for the May 8, 2019 public meeting, please contact the Regional Clerks’ Office at 519-575-4420 not later than 4:30 p.m. on Monday May 6, 2019.

Anyone with an interest is urged to review the draft background study recommendations and attend this meeting. The new Regional Development Charge By-Law will be presented for approval to Regional Council on June 26, 2019. The new Regional Development Charges By-Law will take effect August 1, 2019.
