Notice of Public Consultation Centre Ottawa Street Improvements Fischer-Hallman Road to Alpine Road, City of Kitchener
The Region of Waterloo invites you to attend a Public Consultation Centre for the Ottawa Street Improvements. The project limits are Ottawa Street from Fischer-Hallman Road to Alpine Road.
Date: Wednesday, June 26, 2019
Time: 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Location: Grand River Transit Facility (Chandler Room), 250 Strasburg Road, Kitchener
The work is tentatively scheduled to be completed in 2020 and 2021 in the Region’s Transportation Capital Program. Improvements planned include the following:
- Reconstruction of the existing roadway base and asphalt pavement on Ottawa Street from Fischer-Hallman Road to Alpine Road;
- Construction of new westbound left-turn lanes on Ottawa Street at Williamsburg Road, Pinedale Drive and Howland Drive;
- Construction of new eastbound left-turn lanes on Ottawa Street at Howe Drive, Mowat Drive and Elmsdale Drive;
- Construction of new pedestrian refuge islands on Ottawa Street at Howe Drive, Pinedale Drive, the pathway to Chandler Drive, Mowat Boulevard, Howland Drive and Elmsdale Drive;
- Construction of a new 3.0 metre wide asphalt boulevard multi-use trail on both sides of Ottawa Street from Fischer-Hallman Road to Strasburg Road (the existing sidewalk and bike lane on both sides of Ottawa Street, from Williamsburg Road to Fischer-Hallman Road will be removed to accommodate the new multi-use trail);
- Reconstruction of the intersection of Ottawa Street and Westmount Boulevard as a new two-lane roundabout;
- Improvements to the intersection of Ottawa Street and Fischer-Hallman Road;
- Improvements to the intersection of Ottawa Street and Strasburg Road; and
- Replacement of the corrugated steel pipe culvert carrying Borden Creek under Ottawa Street with a new open-bottom concrete culvert.
Plans and other project information, including planned traffic detours during construction, will be available for your review at the Public Consultation Centre. Staff will be present to respond to inquiries. The plans and more detailed project information will also be available after June 26 online at:
