Notice of Proposed Alternate Rules for Ontario’s Operating Engineers Regulation (O. Reg. 219/01)
For informational purposes only.
TSSA will be seeking comment on proposed Alternate Rules for the Operating Engineers (OE) regulation this spring.
Changes were made to the Technical Standards and Safety Act, 2000, to allow for the creation of Alternate Rules for the Operating Engineers regulation. The rules are to be created by TSSA and would need to be approved by the Minister of Government and Consumer Services.
The Alternate Rules are intended to implement recommendations made by a 15-member panel of expert stakeholders that was convened to provide advice to government on how to improve the Operating Engineers regulation.
In total, the panel made 25 recommendations and reached consensus on 23. You can find the full report here.
Stakeholders will be notified of the comment period once it is posted.
