Nomination period now open for 2018 Municipal Election

Thinking about running for office in the 2018 Municipal Election? The nomination period is now officially open. Candidates can file their nomination for office starting May 1, 2018 until July 27, 2018 at 2 p.m

To be eligible as a candidate in Cambridge, you must meet the following requirements:

  • A Canadian citizen
  • At least 18 years of age
  • A resident of Cambridge, a non-resident owner or tenant of land in Cambridge or the spouse of such non-resident, owner or tenant
  • Not legally prohibited from voting
  • Not disqualified by any legislation from holding municipal office

The following offices are available in Cambridge:

  • Mayor
  • Ward Councillor
  • Regional Councillor
  • Trustee, Waterloo Region District School Board
  • Trustee, Waterloo Catholic District School Board
  • Trustee, Conseil Scolaire Catholique Centre-Sud
  • Trustee, Conseil Scolaire Viamonde

To file a nomination, please bring your completed paperwork and proof of identity to the Clerk’s Office at Cambridge City Hall, 50 Dickson St., 2nd Floor. Please note, if you are running for Regional Councillor/Chair, please file your nomination papers at the Region of Waterloo, 150 Frederick Street, Kitchener, ON.
