Nolinor Airlines Morning Departure Time Moved to 7:00 a.m.

Waterloo Region – The Region of Waterloo International Airport is pleased to advise that the Nolinor Airlines morning flight will now depart at 7:00 a.m. This change will come into effect in the next 30 to 45 days.

The time change was made in consultation with the Airport’s Aeronautical Noise Management Committee (ANMC) and Nolinor Airlines as a result of noise concerns raised by neighbouring residents. The Nolinor Airlines charter flight to Baffin Island departs from the airport 3 days-a-week and the noise associated with the airplane is due to the equipment required for landing on gravel runways in Baffin Island.

The Region of Waterloo International Airport is committed to meeting the needs of the aviation industry and community by maintaining safe and efficient airport operations. The Region of Waterloo endeavors to balance the economic aspects of operating the airport with the concerns of neighbouring residents about aircraft noise.

Geoff Lorentz, Region of Waterloo Councillor and member of the Aeronautical Noise Management Committee (ANMC) states, “We wish to thank Nolinor for working closely with the Airport and our Committee to respond to the concerns expressed by our community. The ANMC has seen an increase in noise concerns since Nolinor began operating in September 2013. We believe this schedule change to a later morning departure is a positive indication of Nolinor’s continued commitment to support the community and we appreciate their willingness to work with us to find a mutually agreeable solution.”

The Aeronautical Noise Management Committee (ANMC) was formed at the Region of Waterloo International Airport in June 1999. This committee meets quarterly and works collectively towards establishing amiable relationships with the residential and business areas adjacent to the airport.
