New live webcasting allows easier access to Council meetings
Cambridge, Ontario. June 6, 2017… Beginning at the Tuesday, June 6, Planning & Development Committee meeting, the community will now have easier access to watch City Council and committee meetings from wherever they are. All they need is an internet connection. The City of Cambridge is following in the footsteps of many other municipalities and is launching live council webcasting.
“We want the community to be aware of what goes on at City Council meetings and to participate in the decision-making process as much as possible,” said Cambridge Mayor Doug Craig. “We recognize that people have busy lives and not everyone can make it to these meetings. We hope this new service will help engage and inform our residents about the discussions taking place.”
This initiative is part of the commitment the City made through the strategic plan, Cambridge Connected: Our Voice. Our Vision to be more open, accountable and transparent. Up until now, the City has had a partnership with Rogers Local TV to cover Council meetings only. This new initiative expands this coverage and will ensure all council and committee meetings are available to the public. It also offers a convenient way for residents to watch current or past meetings. The live webcast will be streamed at www.cambridge.ca/CouncilLive.
The archived videos will be made available on the City’s website at www.cambridge.ca/CouncilMeetings.
