National Drowning Prevention Week, July 15-21
Next week, July 15-21 is National Drowning Prevention Week. The City of Cambridge and the Lifesaving Society want to remind you to be water smart.
Join us at one of our community pools next week, to learn more about water smart tips in honour of Drowning Prevention Week. From Monday through Friday, various city pools will be hosting water smart activities focused on drowning prevention.For a schedule of events, see below:
2018 Drowning Prevention Week Schedule
Monday, July 16 - Watch me, not your phone
John Dolson Centre, 212 South St.
Details: Activities targeted at parents and caregivers to watch their children.
Time: 2-4pm.
Admission: $2.00
Tuesday, July 17 - Be Boat Smart
Kinsmen Soper Park, 120 Shade St.
Details: Activities focusing on the risk factors associated with boating. Life jacket clinic as well as training session on boat safety.
Time: 1:30-4pm
Admission: $2.00
Wednesday, July 18 - All Children Should Learn to Swim to Survive
Ed Newland, 515 William St.
Details: Activities highlighting the importance of learning to swim and survival swimming skills. Instructors will be on-site providing swimming skills training.
Time: 1:30-3:30pm
Admission: $2.00
Thursday, July 19 - Be Water Smart
George Hancock, 115 Glenmorris St.
Details: Activities on how to be safe in, on, and around water and ice. A swim with a buddy photo booth on-site.
Time: 1:30-4pm
Admission: $2.00
Friday, July 20 - Older, But not Always Wiser
W.G. Johnson’s Centre, 31 Kribs St.
Details: Aquafit session for people 50+
Time: 8:10-8:55am
