Municipal Leaders Return from Annual Conference

Waterloo Region – The Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) annual Conference, held in Ottawa, has ended. Chair Karen Redman, Councillor Sue Foxton, Councillor Michael Harris, Councillor Dave Jaworsky, Councillor Helen Jowett, Councillor Kathryn McGarry, Councillor Sandy Shantz, and Councillor Berry Vrbanovic attended the conference. Councillors joined other local municipalities in advocating for action on housing and homelessness, mental health and healthcare, and economic recovery.

“The essential services delivered by municipalities are only possible through continued collaboration and investment from the provincial government,” said Karen Redman, Chair of the Region of Waterloo. “This year’s conference served as an important forum for advancing the priorities of our residents.”

The Region of Waterloo was pleased to see the announcement of additional funding for public health units into 2023 as well as the expansion of patient care models through paramedics.
