More than a thousand doses administered at COVID-19 vaccination drive-thru clinic

Waterloo Region –More than a thousand doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered during the Region’s first youth-friendly drive-thru vaccination clinic at Bingemans.

The clinic administered vaccines to anyone 12 years of age and older with booked appointments. The drive-thru also accommodated people who needed a first dose who didn’t have an appointment.

Thousands more vaccines were administered today at other public health clinics, pharmacies and family practices.

“The Region of Waterloo is finding new and creative ways to get as many people vaccinated as quickly as possible in our community. More than a thousand people received their vaccine today without even having to leave their vehicle,” said Vickie Murray, operations lead of the Region’s COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Task Force. “The rollout is accelerating and becoming even easier for people to get their vaccine. With the help of valued community partners like Bingemans, we’ll continue to get even more vaccines into arms.”

As of Friday, almost 80 per cent of Waterloo Region adults received at least one dose, and almost 40 per cent of adults have received two doses.

The Region continues to work with community partners to bring mobile and pop-up clinics to priority groups and neighbourhoods.
