Safety Tips to Make Summer Break a Splash
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Toronto, ON, June 29, 2010) – Just when you thought diving in head first was a great thing to do – think again. Did you know that over 80 per cent of incidents involving waterslides are due to unsafe rider behaviour?
Slide safely this summer by following these simple tips:
- Follow the rules. Ensure you meet the height, weight, and/or age requirements and follow the attendant’s instructions.
- Keep your position. Never dive, run, stand, kneel, or spin while on the waterslide.
- Play by the numbers. If the slide is for single riders only, don’t attempt to double ride with another person.
- Don’t overdo it. If you feel tired or exhausted, take a break. You can also beat the heat by wearing sunscreen and drinking lots of water.
And this season – go BIG! Look for TSSA’s Summer Safety Crew at one of Ontario’s major water parks, grab a few tips, and earn your chance to win an iPad and other cool prizes. Check out www.safetyinfo.ca, go big and splash safe.
