Media invite: Sunnyside to launch new approach to dementia care during Alzheimer’s Awareness Month

Waterloo Region – The Region’s Sunnyside Home is poised to become the first long term care home in Waterloo Region to be certified in ‘The Butterfly Approach ®’ through Meaningful Care Matters.

‘The Butterfly Approach®’ is about long term care feeling more like home, where schedules are replaced with flexibility; where there’s no uniforms and staff share meals with residents; where staff and residents feel more like family, and where everyone feels like they belong.

Media is invited to attend the launch of this transformation to learn about why it matters and how it will make a difference for people with dementia, their families and staff.

Representatives from Meaningful Care Matters, as well as Sunnyside staff and families of residents who will be impacted by these changes will be available for interviews.
