Many opportunities to get COVID-19 vaccine right now in Waterloo Region
Waterloo Region – At regional vaccination clinics across Waterloo Region, there is capacity right now for residents to get an earlier first, second or third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Anyone who has an appointment later this month or in February is strongly encouraged to get an earlier appointment to increase their protection against the Omicron variant.
Some regional vaccination clinics will also be accepting walk-ins, as capacity allows:
Age groups | Doses available | Vaccination clinics accepting walk-ins |
5-11 year olds | First only | Cambridge Pinebush |
5-11 year olds | First, second | The Boardwalk |
12-17 year olds | First, second | Cambridge Pinebush, Bingemans, 150 Frederick |
Adults 18+ | First, second | Cambridge Pinebush, Bingemans, 150 Frederick |
Adults 18+ | Third | Bingemans, 150 Frederick Street |
The Moderna vaccine is being given to adults 30 years of age and older at regional vaccination clinics. Pfizer is not currently available for this age group. Residents are strong encouraged to take the first mRNA vaccine (Moderna or Pfizer) available to them. Moderna is safe and highly effective, and there is emerging evidence that Moderna induces somewhat higher antibody levels and its protection may be more durable than Pfizer.
Residents can book an appointment for a vaccine at a regional vaccination clinic on the Region of Waterloo website: regionofwaterloo/GetaVaccine
