Man Charged with Second Degree Murder

(Ottawa) — An 18-year-old man has been charged by the Ottawa Police Service Homicide Unit in connection with a stabbing death at the St. Laurent Shopping Centre Friday afternoon.

Mohamed Osman, 18, has been charged with 2nd degree murder, two counts of aggravated assault and one count of breaching release conditions. He was taken into custody by police overnight.

Police and emergency responders were called to the shopping centre at about 4:35 p.m. Friday after witnesses reported a multiple stabbing. In total, three men were injured.

One of those victims,  Marcus Maloney, 19 years old, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased in hospital.
