Local leaders heading to Queen’s Park to promote Waterloo Region

Waterloo Region – The Regional Chair and local mayors are working together to raise awareness of the Region and local area municipalities’ key priorities and challenges at Queen’s Park February 27 – Waterloo Region advocacy day.

The goal is to advocate for funding of significant projects as well as policies that will support key priorities of Waterloo Region.

Regional leaders plan to discuss:

  • transit infrastructure funding;
  • affordable housing funding;
  • two-way all-day GO train service implementation;
  • support for economic development in the Toronto-Waterloo Innovation Corridor;
  • municipal reporting burdens;
  • local ambulance dispatch operations;
  • support for Southwestern Integrated Fibre Technology (SWIFT) Network; and,
  • Regional Government review.

The group plans to meet with Ministers and representatives of Municipal Affairs and Housing; Finance; Transportation; Infrastructure; Health and Long–Term Care; and; Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade.
