Local athletes to be honoured at City of Cambridge’s 43rd annual sports award banquet Tickets on sale until Oct. 28
Cambridge, Ontario. October 20, 2016… The City of Cambridge is holding its 43rd annual sports awards banquet on Friday, Nov. 4 at 6 p.m. at Cambridge City Hall, 50 Dickson St. The event celebrates the accomplishments of local athletes and sports organizations for individual and team performances and for their contributions to sport in Cambridge.
Award categories include Team of the Year, High School Team of the Year, Sports Organization of the Year, Athlete of the Year and Sports Contributor of the Year.
The Sports Banquet Committee is pleased to announce Canadian sports journalist Brenda Irving as this year’s keynote speaker. Irving was the first female Hockey Night in Canada rink-side reporter (2001-2006) and previously served seven years as a news reporter. She is a Cambridge native who attended Preston High School.
Emceeing the event this year is Darryl Law, co-host of 107.5 Dave Rocks Morning Buzz.
Tickets are $45 and can be purchased online through Eventbrite are available until Friday, Oct. 28. Table reservations can be made for purchases of eight tickets or more and can be arranged by calling (519) 740-4681, ext. 4202. Ticket price includes the reception, a buffet dinner by Grand Valley Golf & Country Club and admission to the keynote speech.
