Light the Night Against Violence

Waterloo Region - YWCA Canada’s Rose Campaign will Light the Night Against Violence at more than 25 venues across the country to mark 25 years since the murders of women at L’École Polytechnique on December 6, 1989.

Iconic buildings, bridges and monuments will be lit in red to draw attention to the need for action on violence against women and girls.

City Halls in Kitchener, Cambridge and Waterloo, as well as the Region of Waterloo’s main building, will all participate on the night of December 6th.

Bars Region wide such as Kiwi Cambridge, The Black Badger, Cafe 13 and Imbibe will show their support by lighting red candles and distributing information cards. You can show your support by visiting these locations and helping us to spread the word using the #notokay hashtag to call out content that belittles or objectifies women and/or glorifies gendered violence.

Venues will be lit at sunset, local time, December 6, 2014. All venues are listed online at ywcacanada.ca/en/media/press/111
