Last chance for 2017 curbside yard waste collection
Waterloo Region – From March to November, the Region of Waterloo offers every second week curbside yard waste collection. The 2017 seasonal yard waste collection is ending soon.
The final 2017 collection weeks for yard waste are:
- November 20 – 24 in Kitchener and all the Townships
- November 27 – December 1 in Cambridge and Waterloo
Yard waste is collected on your regular collection day, every second week, opposite to garbage collection. To ensure yard waste is collected, residents should:
- Place yard waste out to the curb by 7 a.m. on your collection day.
- Only put yard waste in paper yard waste bags or in garbage cans with a brightly coloured ribbon tied to the handle. Please do not use plastic bags for yard waste. Plastic bags do not compost and will not be collected.
- Tie branches into bundles not more than 92 centimetres (3 feet) in length.
- Make sure each bag, bundle or can does not weigh more than 23 kilograms (50 pounds).
Yard waste can be dropped off any time at the Cambridge (201 Savage Drive), and Waterloo (925 Erb Street West, Gate 2) waste management sites. Transfer station fees for yard waste will apply: $3.90 per 100 kgs, with a $5.00 minimum charge.
The collection of fall loose leaves raked to the curb is not a Region of Waterloo program. Please call your local municipal office for details about their loose leaf collection program.
Information about the yard waste program and our other waste management programs can be found on the Region’s website www.regionofwaterloo.ca/waste, on the free My Waste app, or by calling our 24-hour Customer Service team at 519-575-4400.
