King, from Union to Allen, to close Monday for five days for LRT work

Waterloo Region – Beginning Monday (April 3), King, from Union to Allen, will close for approximately five days. The closure is required to allow GrandLinq crews time to complete finishing work related to underground utility construction for light rail transit as well as to address minor repairs identified through the quality assurance program.

The full closure of King (Union to Allen) includes the King/John intersection. It will also restrict traffic onto King, from William, as well as traffic onto Allen, from Caroline, to local traffic only. Access for customers and deliveries will be maintained. Construction will also take place at both the King/Union and King/Allen intersections. Both intersections, however, will remain open with a paid duty officer on-site to direct traffic.

Construction will generally take place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. Detours will be in place, and access to businesses will be maintained. The timing of all work is subject to weather conditions and construction constraints.
