Join the Cultivating Heritage Gardens and Landscapes Workshop at the Waterloo Region Museum
Waterloo Region – The Region of Waterloo’s Heritage Planning Advisory Committee (HPAC) is excited to present a new workshop with gardening and landscape experts entitled, “Cultivating Heritage Gardens & Landscapes.” The workshop will take place on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015 at the Waterloo Region Museum.
At this workshop, participants will learn ways to design, source and plant gardens to reflect the historic era of their heritage building. The day-long workshop will include:
· The history of the landscape and garden movement
· Architectural styles and associated landscapes and gardens
· Deciding on a design for your landscape and garden
· Sourcing plant material
· Q & A session with a panel of experts
Workshop speakers will include gardening and landscape experts Wendy Shearer, Bob Wildfong, Susan Burke and Dave Hobson. Resources from various garden related organizations and businesses from around the Region and beyond will be shared, along with a draw for door prizes.
“This workshop represents a wonderful opportunity for heritage home owners to learn more about the style of gardens and landscapes associated with the Region’s unique architectural identity,” says Lucille Bish, Director of Cultural Services at the Region of Waterloo.
The workshop fee is $45 for individuals, $70 for families, and $30 for students. You can register online using Eventbrite or by completing a registration form and paying by cash/cheque. A light breakfast, refreshments and lunch are included in the fee. Registration also grants you access to the exhibits at the Waterloo Region Museum on the day of the workshop.
