Intersection at King and Victoria Streets to close for three days

Waterloo Region – The intersection at King and Victoria Streets in Kitchener will be closed for three days from October 22 to 24. The intersection closure is required for Bell Canada’s work in advance of ION light rail transit (LRT) as well as the King Street Grade Separation.

The intersection will be fully closed from 7 a.m. on Tuesday, October 22 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 24. Detour routes for pedestrians, drivers and cyclists will be as follows:

• Those travelling eastbound on Victoria St. will be detoured via Charles-Water-Duke and back onto Victoria St.

• Those travelling westbound on Victoria St. will be detoured via Duke-Francis-Charles and back onto Victoria St.

• Those travelling southbound on King St will be detoured via Wellington-Duke-Francis and back on King St.

• Those travelling northbound on King St will be detoured via Water-Duke-Wellington and back onto King St.

Grand River Transit will re-route affected bus routes during this time. For more information regarding GRT detours, please visit www.grt.ca.

The Region and Bell Canada are working together to minimize disruption and ask for the community’s patience, understanding and cooperation.

ION, the Region’s rapid transit service, will fundamentally shape Waterloo Region for the future. It will help move people, limit sprawl, encourage intensification and protect the environment.
