Installation begins at pedestrian bridge

Exciting news for the pedestrian bridge in downtown Galt! The two main bridge pieces are being installed over the river on Thursday, Sept. 28 and Friday, Sept. 29.

This project milestone represents an exciting step for this project, which is a key part of the Back to the Rivers initiative. Residents and visitors alike will start to see how the bridge will look spanning across the Grand River and how it will improve pedestrian and cycling access to the downtown core.

A small interruption to traffic is anticipated with a lane closure on Water Street South on Friday.

Next steps

Construction will continue over the next several weeks and will include the installation of the centre viewing area, installation of lighting, and landscaping around both entrance areas of the bridge.

The bridge is anticipated to open to the public later this year. Stay tuned for details of the grand opening celebrations.
