Inclement weather may interfere with waste collection
Waterloo Region – All garbage, green bin and recycling collection trucks are on the roads today, however the inclement weather creates challenges that may interfere with curbside collection:
- Containers may be covered by falling snow, making them difficult to see and/or access.
- Snow pushed to the roadside by plows or thrown by snow blowers can bury containers or otherwise block access to them.
- Crews cannot reach items piled on top of snowbanks.
Unplowed roads have slowed collection trucks, and caused them to be re-routed in some areas. Residents can expect delays in service. Despite the best efforts of collection crews, there may be items that are inaccessible due to snow. We apologize for the inconvenience, but trucks cannot return for items that are buried or otherwise inaccessible. Residents are asked to kindly remove items that remain uncollected after 8 p.m., and please hold them for next week’s collection. We thank everyone for their patience as crews do their best in today’s conditions.
The Cambridge and Waterloo waste transfer stations are open for regular hours today.
Additional information on all waste collection and diversion programs can be found on the Region’s website at www.regionofwaterloo.ca/waste. If you have any questions regarding collection, please call customer service at 519-883-5100.
