The Constructive Communications’ workshop series is designed to help businesses gain a better understanding of strategic communications to improve relationships with customers and employees. Each of the workshops will be organized by IABC Waterloo volunteers from its local network of 150 communications professionals.

The third workshop in the series will focus on social media. The workshop takes place on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Knox Church, 50 Erb St. in Waterloo. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided to participants. Register here.

Featured speaker Dylan McConnell is a Customer Communications Manager at OpenText. During the workshop, businesses will be taught how to utilize social media to identify key marketing opportunities, engage with their customer base and create budget-sensitive digital marketing material. Through carefully crafted group exercises, participants will learn an approach for effectively communicating with their customers in the digital age.

“We’re proud to lead this great series with the Region’s support,” said Sarah Loat, Co-President of IABC Waterloo. “The first two workshops were very well received by local businesses, and I have great expectations for this one as well.”

“IABC Waterloo is the perfect partner to lead this series,” said Kimberly Moser, Manager of Community Relations for ION. “They have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to communications, marketing and social media, and their ability to share this information with local businesses is very helpful.”

IABC Waterloo is a local network of communications professionals committed to improving organizational effectiveness through strategic communication. Founded in 1983, this not-for-profit is a Chapter of IABC international, which serves members in 70 countries with networking, career development and personal growth opportunities.

ION is a visionary plan that will help shape the community for the future by bringing light rail transit (LRT) to Waterloo Region in two stages. Stage 1 includes a 19 kilometre route from the Conestoga Mall transit terminal in Waterloo to the Fairview Park Mall transit terminal in Kitchener. Stage 1 also features 17 kilometres of bus rapid transit (BRT) from the Ainslie Street transit terminal in Cambridge to the Fairview Park Mall transit terminal in Kitchener. Stage 2 will see the Region replace the BRT line with LRT, creating a seamless LRT route across the three urban centres – Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo. The ION BRT service began operations in September 2015.
