IABC Waterloo presents the Constructive Communications workshop series for local businesses during ION construction
Waterloo Region – The Region of Waterloo and the Waterloo Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) are pleased to announce a new partnership that will bring an exciting and educational workshop series to local businesses during ION construction.
The Constructive Communications’ workshop series is designed to help businesses gain a better understanding of strategic communications to improve relationships with customers and employees. Each of the workshops will be organized by IABC Waterloo volunteers from its local network of 150 communications professionals.
The first workshop in the series will be on Constructive Change Management and takes place on Thursday, June 11, 2015 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Knox Church, 50 Erb St. in Waterloo. Light refreshments will be provided to participants.
Featured speaker Dorothy Kudla is a certified change management consultant with extensive experience in sales and marketing. Through open, relevant and real-to-life discussions, she’s helped a number of public and private sector organizations achieve their goals through changing landscapes.
“We’re proud to lead this great series with the Region’s support,” said Sarah Loat, Co-Director of Partnerships for IABC Waterloo. “Bringing ION to Waterloo Region is an enormous undertaking, and we hope our communications expertise will give local businesses the tools, tactics and information they need to thrive during ION construction.”
“IABC Waterloo is the perfect partner to lead this series,” said Kimberly Moser, Manager of Community Relations for ION. “They have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to change management, communications, marketing and social media, and their ability to share this information with local businesses will be incredibly helpful.”
IABC Waterloo is a local network of communications professionals committed to improving organizational effectiveness through strategic communication. Founded in1983, this not-for-profit is a Chapter of IABC international, which serves members in 70 countries with networking, career development and personal growth opportunities.
ION is a visionary plan that will help shape the community for the future by bringing light rail transit (LRT) to Waterloo Region in two stages. Stage 1 includes a 19-kilometre route from the Conestoga Mall transit terminal in Waterloo to the Fairview Park Mall transit terminal in Kitchener. Stage 1 also features 17 kilometres of adapted bus rapid transit (aBRT) from the Ainslie Street transit terminal in Cambridge to the Fairview Park Mall transit terminal in Kitchener. Stage 2 will see the Region convert the aBRT line to LRT, creating a seamless 37-kilometre route of LRT across the three urban centres – Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo. The Region is building ION aBRT. Construction of ION aBRT started in July 2014 and the service will begin operating in 2015.
