Help shape how our community will be planned around rapid transit!
Waterloo Region – The Region of Waterloo is inviting the public to three open houses to provide their input on the draft Central Transit Corridor Community Building Strategy, which will help to determine how our community will be built around rapid transit. One of the open houses will also feature a free speaker event with international transportation expert Karina Ricks who has helped create successful integrated transportation systems around the world.
In her presentation titled, Moving by car and moving by rapid transit: Understanding the connection between greater choice and community prosperity, Ricks will share her insights on how providing more travel choices (from rapid transit to road improvements) and encouraging community-building initiatives through innovative approaches to land use and transportation planning, will help Waterloo Region continue to be a thriving, connected and world-class community. Ricks will speak on September 18 at Knox Church, 50 Erb St. W., Waterloo beginning at 7 p.m. The public can RSVP for this event at www.centraltransitcorridor.ca.
Open houses will be held the same week at the following dates and locations:
- Monday, September 17 – Cambridge Centre for the Arts, 60 Dickson Street, Cambridge
- Tuesday, September 18 – Knox Church, 50 Erb Street West, Waterloo
- Thursday, September 20 – Project Storefront, 220 King Street West, Kitchener
