Help set the Region’s priorities for the next four years

Waterloo Region – The Region of Waterloo provides more than 60 per cent of government services to this community. Regional council will be reviewing these services and identifying new priorities for their 2015-2018 Council term.  Public input is being sought to help the Region identify programs and services that have the greatest impact on the community, while providing the best value for tax dollars.

“We are collecting community input over the winter and spring of 2015 to identify where the Region should focus financial and people resources in order to provide the greatest value to the community,” said the Chief Administrative Officer, Mike Murray. “The Region wants to hear from the public regarding what they see as the most pressing priorities for the community and how the Region’s services could better meet community needs as efficiently and effectively as possible.”

Information gathered from the public will be used in developing the Region’s Strategic Plan and as part of a review of Region services. The goal of the Service Review is to ensure the Region’s services provide the best value to the community.  It will determine whether there are ways to provide current programs and services more efficiently and effectively and/or whether the Region should consider adjusting the level of service to better reflect changing circumstances in our community.

Public input will be gathered through a variety of methods including: a telephone survey; online discussion forum; online and paper surveys; and community focus groups.  Residents can join the conversation on the ‘Strat Chat’ online forum at http://stratchat.regionofwaterloo.ca. Visitors can find more information on the ‘Public Input’ page on the Regional website at http://bit.ly/regionstratchat.
