GRT welcomes the community for tours of Northfield Drive Maintenance Facility

Waterloo Region – Grand River Transit will welcome the community to its Northfield Drive Maintenance Facility with free guided public tours on Sept. 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is the first opportunity for the public to visit since service out of the building began on Sept. 6.

Community members wishing to visit the facility must register online in advance by visiting grt.ca/tour. Tours are limited to 20 people per session; walk-ins will not be accommodated.

The building includes space for 200 buses, 22 maintenance bays, two service lanes, two bus wash stations and office space for GRT staff. The facility also has several green features, including bike storage, rainwater harvesting for the bus wash, lots of natural light, a 6,750-square-foot green roof and LED lighting.

Limited parking will be available on-site. Attendees are encouraged to use transit by connecting to Route 202 at Conestoga Station.

The Northfield Drive Maintenance Facility was made possible with contributions from the Government of Canada, Government of Ontario and Region of Waterloo through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program.
