GRT launches Business Plan consultations
Waterloo Region – Grand River Transit is mapping out the next five years of transit service investments, as it responds to unprecedented ridership in the fastest growing community in Canada.
Across the Region, community feedback will be gathered to inform GRT’s Conventional Bus and ION Train Business Plan, MobilityPLUS Business Plan and Township Transportation Strategy.
Together, the plans will be the roadmap to guide transit service expansion and investments from 2025 to 2030. The plans will focus on how to make transit easier to use, where and when GRT can serve the community better, and how and where GRT should prioritize frequency and speed.
“Providing a robust and reliable transit service is an essential part of creating an attractive and liveable community,” said Karen Redman, Chair of the Region of Waterloo. “I look forward to hearing from community members about what the priorities for service expansion should be and what they want the future of transit to be in the Region.”
The plans will guide GRT’s investments and will be shaped by the Region of Waterloo’s Strategic Plan priorities, including the Region’s commitment to community climate action and making transit the easy choice.
The first opportunity for public feedback will be on June 27 at 7 p.m. during a virtual townhall session held on Zoom. The session will include brief overviews of the objectives of all three plans, as well as opportunities for participants to share ideas and their vision for transit services into the future.
Further consultation opportunities will be held throughout the summer.
