Grand River Transit fares change July 1
Waterloo Region – Effective July 1, 2022, Grand River Transit (GRT) fares will increase by an average of 2 per cent to cover the increased costs of operating transit and planned service improvements. Monthly pass prices will not increase.
Earlier this year, Region of Waterloo Councillors set fare prices with the 2022 budget. This is the first GRT fare increase since September 2019. Regional Council deferred the fare change planned for 2020 because of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the community.
Discounted fares are available for people living with low income. The Affordable Transit Program provides a 48 per cent discount on monthly passes, stored value and MobilityPLUS tickets. Earlier this month, the income thresholds were increased to expand access to the program.
