Getting Better All the Time: A Short History of Public Health in Waterloo Region
Waterloo Region – Dr. Liana Nolan, Medical Officer of Health and Charlotte Woodley, Archivist at the Region of Waterloo will speak at the Tuesday, September 23, 2014 meeting of the Waterloo Historical Society. Everyone is welcome to attend this free meeting held at 7:30 p.m. in room 508, 5th floor, 99 Regina Street South, Waterloo.
Public health in the region covers many subjects but affects every single citizen. Dr. Liana Nolan and Charlotte Woodley will trace several public health issues through the decades. Stories and anecdotes about smoking, birth control, epidemic outbreaks and immunization will make this an informative and entertaining evening.
The Waterloo Historical Society fosters the recognition of Waterloo region’s unique heritage and encourages heritage preservation.
The Region of Waterloo Archives is the official home of records created by the: County of Waterloo (1829-1972); Region of Waterloo (1973-present); Township of Woolwich (1851-present); and Town of Elmira (1886-1972).
