Funding available for community environmental projects (2)
Waterloo Region – Applications are now being accepted for the 2019 Region of Waterloo Community Environmental Fund. The application deadline is April 12, 2019.
Established in 2011, the Fund provides grants to assist community members and organizations carry out projects that protect, promote and enhance our natural environment and/or reduce environmental impacts. Grants will be available for environmental stewardship and sustainability projects that:
- conserve and enhance ecologically significant natural features in our rural and urban areas, and especially those within our four Environmentally Sensitive Landscapes;
- naturalize schoolyards and other public spaces;
- promote environmentally sustainable actions and behaviours; or
- research environmental issues important to the region.
“We look forward to seeing a continued variety of environmental projects take place throughout the Region,” says Regional Chair Karen Redman. “Recently added is a sustainability category designed to fund an even wider range of projects.”
Since 2011, the community has completed over 200 projects and every dollar from the Region’s Community Environmental Fund has been matched by more than $3 from other sources.
The Region of Waterloo Community Environmental Fund demonstrates the Region’s commitment to working with community members to maintain the clean air, water and land vital to a healthy Region for the future.
