Funding available for community environmental projects (1)

WATERLOO REGION – Applications are now being accepted for the 2017 Region of Waterloo Community Environmental Fund. The application deadline is January 6, 2017.

Established in 2011, the Fund provides grants to assist community members and organizations carry out projects that protect, promote, and enhance our natural environment. Grants will be available for environmental stewardship projects that:

  • Conserve and enhance ecologically significant natural features in our rural and urban areas, and especially those within our four Environmentally Sensitive Landscapes;
  • Promote environmentally sustainable actions and behaviours; or
  • Research environmental issues important to the region.

“Each year since 2011, a wonderful variety of environmental projects have been completed throughout the Region,” says Regional Chair Ken Seiling. “We’re looking forward to receiving applications for innovative projects that will benefit our community.”

Since 2011, the community has completed nearly 120 projects and every dollar from the Region’s Community Environmental Fund has been matched by almost two dollars from others.

The Community Environmental Fund demonstrates the Region’s ongoing commitment to collaborate with community members to preserve, protect and enhance our environment.
